Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

A story of mock trial, feminism, and the inherent power found in a pair of knitting needles. Why I want to read this book
Raina Petree is crushing her senior year, until her boyfriend dumps her, the drama club (basically) dumps her, the college of her dreams slips away, and her arch-nemesis triumphs.
Things aren’t much better for Millie Goodwin. Her father treats her like a servant, and the all-boy Mock Trial team votes her out, even after she spent the last three years helping to build its success.
But then, an advice columnist unexpectedly helps Raina find new purpose in a pair of knitting needles and a politically active local yarn store. This leads to an unlikely meeting in the girls’ bathroom, where Raina inspires Millie to start a rival team. The two join together and recruit four other angry girls to not only take on Mock Trial, but to smash the patriarchy in the process.
So many reasons, chief among them that I can feel the grrrl-power from here, and I am all about that. Not only does the feminist angle appeal to me, but I want to know more about all the young women mentioned in the synopsis. They sound like they are having a tough time, and there is nothing I love more, than to root for an underdog. Oh, and mock trial. Love that! Want to read about it! Also, I keep getting a 12 Angry Men feel, and well, that was a stupendous film.

There are no mistakes in love. Why I want to read this book
Captain of the soccer team, president of the Debate Club, contender for valedictorian: Taylor's always pushed herself to be perfect. After all, that's what is expected of a senator's daughter. But one impulsive decision-one lie to cover for her boyfriend-and Taylor's kicked out of private school. Everything she's worked so hard for is gone, and now she's starting over at Hundred Oaks High.
Soccer has always been Taylor's escape from the pressures of school and family, but it's hard to fit in and play on a team that used to be her rival. The only person who seems to understand all that she's going through is her older brother's best friend, Ezra. Taylor's had a crush on him for as long as she can remember. But it's hard to trust after having been betrayed. Will Taylor repeat her past mistakes or can she score a fresh start?
The Defending Taylor ebook will have a bonus Catching Jordan short story about Jordan and Sam Henry called Touchdown!
I started this series back in 2014, and now, I will read my final book (Yes, I read out of order). This is bittersweet for me people, but I am so happy I picked this series back up. Each and every book has been a delight for me, so, it's a no brainer to finish it off. I borrowed a copy of this from the library, so I hope it has the short story at the end. That is absolutely something for me to look forward to, as Kenneally has done such a wonderful job keeping us updated on what's going on with Sam and Jordan.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely loved it!
DeleteSix Angry Girls sounds like one for me!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it sound great?
DeleteI love seeing you continue on with the Kenneally series. But it's sad that this is the last one. :( I hope it provides some kind of awesome update or epilogue at the end! It would be such a feel-good way to end.
ReplyDeleteI want to cry, because I didn't even read the last book last, though, the finale (Coming Up for Air, which I already read) was stupendous. Kenneally did give us an epic epilogue featuring the couple who started it all, Sam and Jordan.
DeleteGirl power! I hope you enjoy both of these!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Girl power is always the answer
DeleteI hope you enjoy these both when you get to them! I've been wanting to read The Hundred Oak series for a while and just haven't gotten to it.
ReplyDeleteI am such a fan of the Hundred Oak books. Kenneally does that low drama, but meaningful type of YA contemporary, that I love.
DeleteAnd low drama sounds so good right now!!
DeleteLow drama is right for me just about always, but so necessary right now
DeleteI just finished Less by Andrew Sean Greer which was on my backlog for a couple years. I've got some recent releases to get to this week, but I hope to read Catch and Kill very soon!
ReplyDeleteSo many gems in my backlist. I am really happy I decided to join Carole in this meme, because it's been a good motivator for me.
DeleteI don't know why but the cover of Six Angry girls reminds me of the Spice Girls .... go figure!
ReplyDeleteI guess they are sort of spicy. 🤣
DeleteCute picks! Those are new to me ones! I hope you enjoy them once you get to read them!
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
Have a GREAT day!

ReplyDeleteLindy@ A Bookish Escape
No doubt. I have loves all the Hundred Oaks books, and I am devouring Kenneally's new book at the moment. She writes stories that are so easy to get lost in
DeleteOh i am loving the sound of Six Angry Girls -- and the diversity on the cover. It definitely sounds like my kind of read too!
ReplyDeleteI like seeing people, who seem different, being linked by some commonality.
DeleteI like the sound of both of these. I really feel like I need to give Kenneally a try very soon. I hope you enjoy both of these.
ReplyDeleteHer books are always so good. With the Hundred Oaks books, she always incorporates something topical from teens, and I love that she digs into her own experiences to craft these stories. I started Taylor last night, and it's as good as I expected.
DeleteHope you enjoy the books very soon! I'm concentrating on non fictio especially political and mountain expeditions so I can pass some books on to my bored uncle!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice you share common interests with your uncle and can share books with him
DeleteI'm all about those girl power reads and am very excited for Six Angry Girls. I just entered a giveaway for it yesterday actually, lol.
ReplyDeleteI entered the giveaway too. My eLibrary never gets very many Macmillan books (I wonder why *eye roll*)
DeleteI saw Six Angry Girls around and it sounds like my kind of book! And I am glad you are finally getting to Defending Taylor as well. I also wanted to mention that I FINALLY read When Dimple Met Rishi the other day and it was so incredibly fun. I loved it <3 So thank you for continuously recommending it.
ReplyDeleteWho hoo! WDMR is an all-time favorite of mine. I am beyond excited that you enjoyed it
