Today's topic was actually pretty interesting. What characters would I follow on social media? That's a tough question. I would want to see posts from someone with a great sense of humor, because let's face, real life can be tough, and laughter really is the best medicine for that. I also like to see posts about things such as books, science, cute animals, and food.
Here are ten characters, who I think would create posts, which would entertain and interest me. As always, I tried to cull these characters from recent favorites.
- Marin from Rules for Being a Girl by Candace Bushnell & Katie Cotugno - I would love to hear about what books they discussed in feminist book club
- Maisie from What I Like About Me by Jenna Guillaume - Maisie is hilarious, and she's about body positivity. I think her posts would be amazing!
- Pip from A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson - Nothing like some true crime talk from someone with Pip's wit.
- Stevie from the Truly Devious series by Maureen Johnson - Another crime aficionado, who I adored.
- #PepperJack from Tweet Cute by Emma Lord - You know they have a strong Twitter game filled with snark, but Pepper's dessert creations would be another reason to follow.
- Jolene from Every Other Weekend by Abigail Johnson - Her film knowledge is vast, and I bet should would have lots of insight into what to see next.
- Nina, Joydeep, Sasha, and Jamie from Lucky Caller by Emma Mills - 90s music talk. Yes, please.
- Sophie from 10 Blind Dates by Ashley Elston - I hope her feed is filled with pictures and stories of all her family's shenanigans.
- Isabel from Sick Kids in Love by Hannah Moskowitz - I loved her Sick Girl column, and would definitely read more of that.
- Clara from Suggested Reading by David Connis - Clara is a bookworm, who I hope would talk about books...a lot.
Who would you follow?

I'd follow Maisie, definitely. I think she would have so much to say, esp when she's doing the contest AND in a small holiday town to boot. Also #pepperJack -- you won me over at dessert creations lol
ReplyDeleteYes! You need to meet #PepperJack. They were fantastic! I loved reading about Maisie's days at the beach, and watching her branch out. Her color commentary were some of the best parts for me
DeleteUm, this may be one of your first posts where I haven't read a single book. *sad face* But I like the sound of Maisie's body positivity and Clara's book talk. :)
ReplyDeleteClara was a very passionate reader. I think you would love her, and Maisie could make anything seem fun and interesting
DeleteOkay, you just moved LUCKY CALLER up to the top of my list with "90's music talk".... because YES PLEASE for me too!! I love all your picks!! I almost put Stevie on my list too-- I think she would be good on some sort of true crime podcast or twitter-- but then I remembered that I don't really like her or that series (even though I'm currently reading it 🙈). LOL.
ReplyDeleteMills only name drops a few 90s bands. She actually created her own 90s fandom (I love that she does this in her books), and I loved them too. I did love Stevie. She was complicated, but she had a lot of great qualities. I give you a lot of credit for finishing a series you didn't like
DeleteI haven't read Tweet Cute yet, but even just from the title it seems like the characters would be a perfect fit for this week's topic! I didn't know about the dessert creations, either, but I would love to look at pics of those, too!
ReplyDeleteIf you need a fun little lift, read Tweet Cute. It will deliver.
DeleteWhat a fun topic! There are definitely characters I would follow as well, pretty much anyone from any of Darynda Jones's series but especially Charlie, she is so hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI have seen posts from many fans of that series. And, wow! It's awesome that there are so many adventures to enjoy with Charlie
DeleteYes to #PepperJack! I freaking adored them!! Isabel would be another interesting character to follow for sure.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get enough of #PepperJack. I almost wanted Lord to do like they did with the YA Romance Hero, and create a twitter for them
DeleteI haven't read many of these but definitely Isabel because then I would have probably understood the book better lmao
ReplyDeleteKaren @ For What It's worth
I am still dumbfounded, that the narration didn't introduce the Sick Girl column bits. So odd
Deletecool list. i would have to think on this more
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
It was a pretty hard topic, and I am not that in tune with social media, but I know I like to follow people, who amuse me or post amazing pics.
DeleteI wish I would of thought of Lucky Caller. I would so follow that!
ReplyDeleteI would listen to the podcast too
DeleteOooh that's a great topic! I'd follow Izzy from The Exact Opposite of Okay because she is so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI love people, who are funny and make me laugh. So, Izzy would probably be appealing to me too
Delete#PepperJack would be fun to follow with the way the are always trying to one up eachother, and I agree with Sophia and getting to see and read all about her family's shenanigans! I liked Isabel's sick girl column and can see why you included her as well :)
ReplyDeleteLindy@ A Bookish Escape
I think if Sophia's family had a group Twitter, it would be hilarious. OR, an Instagram capturing all the family get togethers with stories attached.
DeleteOh nice! Seeing a lot of Stevie today! I've got to start this series asap! Lol.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I was happy to see her pop up on so many lists. Hope you get to the series. I loved it!
DeleteThe only book on this list I've read is Truly Devious. I think Stevie's posts would always be very cryptic... She wouldn't want the killer to know she's on their tail!
ReplyDeleteNothing like a cryptic post to leave you wondering what it all means.
DeleteStevie from Maureen Johnson's series would be a good choice with her true crime focus. I've seen her on a few lists now.
ReplyDeleteOh, and your post title totally made me think of this. Haha

I loved U2, yet when I think of I Will Follow, my mind goes to the 60s hit.
DeleteOoh, Pip from A Good Girl's Guide is such a great choice. Love her!
ReplyDeleteRight? She had the type of personality that I love, and I loved the way she gathered information and parsed it for meaning.
DeleteOh goodness, I'm not familiar with these characters. Although, some of them look really interesting.
ReplyDeleteThere's some great ones there. Maybe you'll get to "meet" them someday
DeleteAll books on my TBR that I haven't read yet... I want to read them so much more now!
ReplyDeleteHope you get to them soon!
DeleteThe only one of these that I'm familiar with is 10 Blind Dates which I'm reading now. I had to set it aside and I plan to start at the beginning again. Curious about the characters now!
ReplyDeleteI adored 10 Blind Dates. I hope it works for you the second time around.
DeleteJolene from Every Other Weekend would be great to follow if you were into movies. Pepper would be as fun to follow as the Wendy's account.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if real Pepper would be as snarky as the corporate account Pepper.
DeleteI so need to hurry and get to Tweet Cute and Lucky Caller! Great list!
ReplyDeleteI agree, you should get on those book ASAP. They will make you smile
DeleteOkay, I think I need to try Suggested Reading!
ReplyDeleteI was so taken by this book, and sad not to see more people reading it. I will keep talking about it though
DeleteI haven't read any of these yet but I agree that characters with a good sense of humour or provide lighter entertainment would be good... Life is waaaay too serious otherwise.
ReplyDeleteTruth! Laughter really is the best medicine, and I will always go with the funny one.
DeleteAhh YES I'd definitely follow Pepper or Jack or both on social media as well! I just loved them and their banter so damn much and, let's face it, if Pepper posts pictures of cakes, I'm here for that :D
ReplyDeleteThey were fantastic! My favorite YA couple so far this year.
DeleteThese are all new to me characters! I know I would be following the Raven Cycle gang and the Lunar Chronicles gang if they had social media for sure ^.^
ReplyDeleteI didn't read the Lunar Chronicles, but I agree, that the Raven Cycle characters would have great social media accounts.
