Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for:
Good Girl, Bad Blood
Holly Jackson
Series: A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, #2
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Mystery
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Release Date: April 30, 2020
Goodreads
Pip Fitz-Amobi is not a detective anymore.

With the help of Ravi Singh, she released a true-crime podcast about the murder case they solved together last year. The podcast has gone viral, yet Pip insists her investigating days are behind her.

But she will have to break that promise when someone she knows goes missing. Jamie Reynolds has disappeared but the police won’t do anything about it. And if they won’t look for Jamie then Pip will, uncovering more of her town’s dark secrets along the way… and this time EVERYONE is listening. But will she find him before it’s too late?
Why I want to read this book

I am currently reading A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, and I am so in love with it. I love the format and the voice, and am really eager to see where Jackson goes with this. This girl detective is someone I have enjoyed getting to know, and I look forward to solving more mysteries with her.

Little Monsters
Kara Thomas
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Mystery
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Release Date: July 25, 2017
Goodreads
Kacey is the new girl in Broken Falls. When she moved in with her father, she stepped into a brand-new life. A life with a stepbrother, a stepmother, and strangest of all, an adoring younger half sister.

Kacey’s new life is eerily charming compared with the wild highs and lows of the old one she lived with her volatile mother. And everyone is so nice in Broken Falls—she’s even been welcomed into a tight new circle of friends. Bailey and Jade invite her to do everything with them.

Which is why it’s so odd when they start acting distant. And when they don’t invite her to the biggest party of the year, it doesn’t exactly feel like an accident.

But Kacey will never be able to ask, because Bailey never makes it home from that party. Suddenly, Broken Falls doesn’t seem so welcoming after all—especially once everyone starts looking to the new girl for answers.

Kacey is about to learn some very important lessons: Sometimes appearances can be deceiving. Sometimes when you’re the new girl, you shouldn’t trust anyone.
Why I want to read this book

Back in 2015, I got an ARC of Thomas' The Darkest Corners, and I loved it! I vowed to read more of her books, and I have. I bought this book in 2018, but for some reason read The Cheerleaders, borrowed from the library, and left this one unread. It seemed like a good fit with A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, though, and so I threw it on my TBR this week.

What are you waiting on?

    1. I found it to have a blend of mystery and other elements similar to McManus' books, which is one of the reasons I love her books so much. I was all in, and devoured that book.
