Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for:
Check, Please!, Book 2: Sticks and Scones
Ngozi Ukazu
Series: Check, Please!
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Graphic Novel
Publisher: First Second
Release Date: April 7, 2020
Goodreads
Eric Bittle is heading into his junior year at Samwell University, and not only does he have new teammates―he has a brand new boyfriend! Bitty and Jack must navigate their new, secret, long-distance relationship, and decide how to reveal their relationship to friends and teammates. And on top of that, Bitty's time at Samwell is quickly coming to an end...It's two full hockey seasons packed with big wins and high stakes!

A collection of the second half of the mega-popular webcomic series of the same name, Check, Please!: Sticks and Scones is the last in a hilarious and stirring two-volume coming-of-age story about hockey, bros, and trying to find yourself during the best four years of your life.
Why I want to read this book

I fell so in love with Bitty in the first book, and I cannot wait to be there as he navigates his Junior year and a long distance romance. Oh, and that romance was so precious! More hockey, more baking, more romance, and maybe I will even get a peek at what the future holds for Bitty.

The Lost & Found
Katrina Leno
Age/Genre: Young Adult,
Publisher: HarperTeen
Release Date: July 5, 2016
Goodreads
A charming and imaginative new novel about getting lost before you can be found.

LOST:
Frannie and Louis met in an online support group when they were both younger. They have never met face-to-face. They don’t even know each other’s real names. All they know is that they both have a mysterious tendency to lose things. Well, not lose them, exactly. Things just seem to…disappear.

FOUND:
They each receive news in the mail that sets them off on a road trip to Austin, Texas, looking for answers—and each other. Along the way, each one begins to find, as if by magic, important things the other has lost. And by the time they finally meet in person, they realize that the things you lose might be things you weren’t meant to have at all, and that you never know what you might find if you just take a chance.

The Lost & Found is a bighearted novel about connections (missed and found), family (the kind you’re born with and the kind you make for yourself), and unexpected journeys (on the road, and of the heart), from an author who Publishers Weekly called “a fierce new presence.”
Why I want to read this book

It was love at first book for me with Leno. I first experienced the brilliance that is Katrina Leno via Everything All at Once back in 2017, and I ran out, and purchased her backlist. I then went on to read more of her ARCs, while her backlist wasted away, unread. I am looking forward to reading this book, because I want to see these two online friends meet in real life. I am always up for a road trop, and Leno always sprinkles a little magic into her stories, which I always look forward to.
What are you waiting on?

    1. I don't read many, because I prefer to read electronically, and graphic novels are a nightmare for me on a kindle (way too small), but I am glad I gave Check, Please! a look, because it really was as wonderful as everyone said.

  11. I have heard very good things about Check Please! So I should probably be checking those out. Also, I admire how much you follow up on authors you like. If you liked someone's previous books you keep an eye on them to see if they release anything more!

    1. I like to take chances when I read, but if I find success with an author, I will seek out their other books, and hope that those books are just as successful for me (which they usually are)

  12. These are both completely new to me but they both sound like books I would read. I don't know how many backlist books I have bought only to ignore and focus on ARCs because they have a deadline. I hope you enjoy both of these!

    1. I am guilty as well. I have been so good this year with limiting my ARC requests, and to be honest, I am really enjoying reading some older books. The Lost & Found was really wonderful, and I gave it 5-stars. Another gem, just sitting on the shelf
