Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

I am feeling rather festive as I write this, since once my daughter arrived, it felt more like Christmas to me. She came in late Thursday, and as always, it's nice having her around. Saturday, we all went to a very nice steakhouse near Rutgers to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. It was fun and the food was great, as always. Other than that, it was cold and I went to work. Not much to say.

My oma, my dad, my mom, and my poppy 50 years ago.

Happy holidays to all who are celebrating. I am looking forward to more time off and sauerbraten. What are you looking forward to?

Sloth was impressed with the decorations at O'Hare

It's cold, but at least we can do some cool science, right?

I love the enthusiasm!

I guess Grumpy Cat has been reincarnated...

What I Read Last Week

I had two stand outs this week! The Iron Will of Genie Lo was a fantastic follow up, and a wonderful finish to the series. And, I am logging another hit with my backlog selection. Breathe, Annie, Breather was beautiful, and I am so glad I finally read it.

What I Am Currently Reading

Have you ever started a book, and just knew it was going to be fabulous? I swear! I knew from chapter one that Throw Like a Girl would be a hit, and so far, I am loving it!

    1. I am glad I picked up those Hundred Oaks books again. I had forgotten how good they are. I only have two left, and I already read the last book (which was a lovely way to close out the series), but at least we have a new Kenneally book coming in 2020

  3. Hooray for your girl being home! I guess it really feel like Christmas now. And happy anniversary to your parents. 50 years is such a milestone. Mine were married for 56 years. Not something you see a lot of anymore. That captions of that cat knocking stuff off is hilarious. I’m excited to go back and read your review of Breathe, Annie, Breathe. I really liked that one.

    1. I had seen that cat video before, but the captions just make it even funnier. Breathe, Annie, Breathe was such a Sam book - between the grief and loss, family focus, and friendship, I was 100% in

  6. I've learned two new words today (oma and sauerbraten). Happy anniversary to your parents! 50 years, wow.

    Cool videos as usual LOL.

My own week was...is there a back-up question? I took the week off work, and of course, the weather went batshit. Plus I barely went out and still managed to catch a fierce cold that (typically with me) evolved into hoarseness. So I'm coughing like an old smoker and I'm feeling miserable.

Love Sloth, love the happy doggos, love the bratty cat, love the links, LOVE that your daughter is home and your parents are celebrating 50 years together! Have you seen the video of the therapy dog that was quietly hoarding the toys that a police station was collecting?

    1. Well, I read on my commute, and that's only going to get longer, when my hours change and my friend goes on maternity leave. I will probably fit a whole other book in each week.

    1. It was good. I was reading another review, and I think that reviewer might have helped me identify what kept me from being over the moon about it. I mean, I liked it a lot, but there was something that kept me from loving it. Still good, and I blazed through it.
