Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

With the warmth, wit, intimate friendships, and heart-melting romance she brings to all her books, Emma Mills crafts a story about believing in yourself, owning your mistakes, and trusting in human connection in Lucky Caller. Why I want to read this book
When Nina decides to take a radio broadcasting class her senior year, she expects it to be a walk in the park. Instead, it’s a complete disaster.
The members of Nina's haphazardly formed radio team have approximately nothing in common. And to maximize the awkwardness her group includes Jamie, a childhood friend she'd hoped to basically avoid for the rest of her life.
The show is a mess, internet rumors threaten to bring the wrath of two fandoms down on their heads, and to top it all off Nina's family is on the brink of some major upheaval.
Everything feels like it's spiraling out of control―but maybe control is overrated?
Obviously, I automatically added this book to my TBR, because Emma Mills wrote it, and I simply adore everything the woman has produced. Her books are like a towel out fresh out of the dryer. They make me feel warm and happy. I am looking forward to meeting each and every member of her radio team, and to get to the root of why Nina and Jamie stopped talking. Hands down! This is one of my most anticipated 2020 releases, and I am chomping at the bit to read it.

Seventeen-year old Abby has only one goal for her summer: to make sure she is fluent in French—well, that, and to get as far away from baseball and her Cubs-obsessed family as possible. A summer of culture and language, with no sports in sight. Why I want to read this book
That turns out to be impossible, though, because her French partner is the exact kind of boy she was hoping to avoid. Eight weeks. 120 hours of class. 80 hours of conversation practice with someone who seems to exclusively wear baseball caps and jerseys.
But Zeke in French is a different person than Zeke in English. And Abby can’t help but fall for him, hard. As Abby begins to suspect that Zeke is hiding something, she has to decide if bridging the gap between the distance between who she is and who he is, is worth the risk.
It appears, that I purchased this book in June of 2016. Yep. Clicked and forgot it. Then, early this year, I had the pleasure of reading Blitt's most recent release, The Truth About Leaving, which I enjoyed very much. It made me looked into Blitt's back catalog, and I realized I had another one of her books. Many reviewers have called this a cute contemporary, and when have you known me not to up for a cute contemporary? That's right, never. I am looking forward to watching this love match happen.

I've done a lot of click and forget over the last few years! I'm starting to uncover all kinds of things on my ereaders!
ReplyDeleteIt's been great doing the backlog book thing, because I have found so many gems
DeleteI just read the happiest review of Lucky Caller! And cute contemporary sounds well, cute!
ReplyDeleteI can never go wrong with Emma Mills. She writes YA perfection. Glad to hear early readers are loving it.

DeleteLucky Caller is on my TBR too. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Wednesday post
Mills is a must read for all YA contemporary fans.
DeleteI’ve had The Distance from A to Z sitting on my Kindle since January 2016. Going on 4 years and still unread. Ack! I’m excited to let you be the guinea pig for the this for me. LOL
ReplyDeleteA to Z is so cute. I started it at the bus stop and I am almost done.
Deletei think we all have some authors we automatically add all their books to our reading list. hope this are as good as you anticipate
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
I read my first Emma Mills book last year, and then blazed through her backlist. She knows how to write what I like.
DeleteI'm hoping to read Lucky Caller soon myself. I enjoyed The Distance From A to Z.
ReplyDeleteI am loving A to Z. So cute! I am at like 90% already (started this morning). So, as long as the ending doesn't suck, I would call it a win for me.
DeleteI think they both sound really good!
ReplyDeleteMy CWW
A to Z is great so far, and I have no doubts that I will love Mills' book.
DeleteI was just perusing Netgalley when I spotted Lucky Caller and I was thinking : "Mmmmm seems like a good one!" ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe cover, the blurb, the fact that it's written by Emma Mills - all that signal a must read for me.
DeleteCute picks! Both new to me ones as usual! Lol. Hope you adore them both!
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I am sure I will
DeleteI don’t remember the book from 2016 at all... I have to go look it up. I am hit or miss with Mills... don’t hate me.
ReplyDelete*laughing* I am ok with people not liking all the books I like. We can still be friends.
DeleteLucky Caller sounds like a fun and exciting read!v vThe Distance from A to Z sounds like a super cute contemporary romance! It is my type of story and I can see why you were excited to discover that you have it! Great Wow picks Sam :)
ReplyDeleteLindy@ A Bookish Escape
A to Z is fun and cute and I am blazing through it right now.
DeleteThese are both new to me. I have a lot of books that I have clicked and forgotten about so I know how that goes. These both sound great, Sam. I hope you love them.
ReplyDeleteDoing this post has forced me to acknowledge my shelf books, and I am finding so many great books in my own library. A to Z is another wonderful one too. I am loving it so far.
DeleteOh, I'd like to know why Jamie and Nina stopped talking, too. Plus, I love that cover. I've always wanted to learn French and the Distance From A to Z sounds like fun. Both books sound delightful.
ReplyDeleteI love that you combined CWW and Books From the Backlog. Maybe I'll copy you sometime! :)
There is so much French in A to Z, and it's just an adorable romance to boot.
DeleteYES! Join us for Books from the Backlog. It's been a great way for me to make a commitment to one backlog book per week. I read each one I feature (that's my own part of the meme)
I haven't heard of either of these books before. I love that 2016 is a while ago for you... but I am sure I have older books on my TBR :'( That are still unread! I hope you will love both of these x
ReplyDeleteI didn't start pleasure reading again until like 2013, and I definitely have some one-clicks from back then too. I am tackling my shelf books one a week via this meme.
DeleteI just found Lucky Caller, and it just looks so good. It will be my first Emma Mills song, but I've definitely seen good things for her. It looks adorable and like it shall be providing the feels. Wonderful post! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are in for a treat! My first Emma Mills book was Foolish Hearts, which was nothing short of perfect for me. I hope you get to read it
DeleteI've been meaning to participate in Carol's Beat the Backlog feature, but haven't made the plunge yet. I feels like it's a commitment I cannot fully commit to right now. Even though I have been doing better with reading some of my older books! I have two of Emma Mills books that I recently purchased from Book Outlet on a whim, and I'm looking forward to reading both. :)
ReplyDeleteLindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? 💬
Carol's meme is simply to feature a backlog book, which I paired with my Can't Wait Wednesday. I have made the commitment to myself to read that selected book. It's been a good way to make myself read the book and not just talk about it. Emma Mills is such a favorite of mine. I like lighter books, which focus on family, friendship, and romance, so they work for me. They have depth, but they are never heavy. These are my go-to type books, because I know they will lift my spirits.
DeleteI am very excited for Emma Mills newest release, although I actually forgot about it. The cover is different to her previous book, though! I am used to a certain cover style for her so I'm not certain of this new one. I suppose I'll wait until I see it in person.
ReplyDeleteI've done that so many times buying a book and promptly forgetting about it. I hope you read and enjoy The Distance from A to Z.
It's weird to see an Emma Mills book with people on the cover. It really goes against the artsy covers of her past books, but you know, illustrated covers are all the rage 🙄 I DID enjoy A to Z. Honestly, had it had an epilogue, I probably would have given it 4.5 - 5 stars. I liked it a lot, but needed a bit more of the future to be satisfied.
DeleteI've seen Emma Mills' name a bunch but haven't read anything by her, I hope you enjoy both! I think I may have a copy of Love from A to Z!
ReplyDelete(Amber Elise @ Du Livre)
It seems a lot of us have a copy of A to Z. I will say, I enjoyed it so much, and I would have gone beyond 4-stars had Blitt given me an epilogue or something. I just needed a bit more.
DeleteLucky Caller sounds cool! I haven't heard of the author but I'd take a chance. I'm curious about why they stopped talking too... And hoping for a romance to blossom once they work it out, lol.
ReplyDeleteYou read a lot more UF and Mills is very much YA contemporary. She's not HUGE, but I feel like she is fairly well known by YA readers. I am a big fan. I actually have this book, and am trying to control myself, though I will probably read it soon.
