How am I expected to resist this book, when the synopsis mentions both FNL and Morgan Matson? These are things I love. I also adore girls breaking barriers - girl QB? Yes, please. The set up sounds really fun, and then there is the whole private-school-girl-in-the-public-school-world, which for some reason, can be great, when done well. Most of all, I am here for the sports story feels. I play zero sports, and my high school sport was track, which is pretty solitary, but I love team sports books, and I think this will be a real winner for me.

I am pretty sure this was a CWW pick for me, and I definitely know it was on my missed in 2018 list. I don't think there is anything in that synopsis, that doesn't call to me. It sounds so well suited to my tastes, AND Tanya, who understands my reading needs, believes I will adore this one. I am excited, that I finally made space on my weekly TBR for it!

Throw Like a Girl sounds very fun! I've read a book about a female baseball pitcher, so a female quarterback could be really cool!

DeleteThese are both new to me but I love the sound of them. I love sports stories and a female quarterback sound really interesting. Love Scene, Take Two sounds like a wonderful love story. I can't wait to see what you think of both of these, Sam!

When I saw the name, I thought she wrote fantasy books. I was surprised by that, but there are a lot of authors who are great at genre jumping.

ReplyDeleteI've had Love Scene, Take Two on my amazon wishlist for a while now... I've been stalking it waiting for a good price. It was up at £12.99 for the ebook when it released which was just crazy! It's dropped now though but it still costs the same as a paperback and that's more that I'd want to spend on an unknown (to me) author, you know? I'll keep stalking... One day, I'll get it, lol.
I got lucky and won a book of choice in a giveaway, and Love Scene was my pick. I won't pay more than $5 (usually) for an ebook, but the eLibrary NEVER gets Swoon titles and with all the Macmillan ebook drama, they probably never will.

DeleteI had been interested in Throw Like a Girl ever since I saw it on Netgalley. It was one of the books I was eyeing on the site but didn't request it in the end. I have enough in my TBR. Still, my excitement and interest for this is still on its highest level. I mean.. a female quarterback? I'm here for that.

DeleteI understand nothing of American football really but love girls killing it in what are usually seen as male dominated sports. I love Morgan Matson novels so really looking forward to giving it a read and seeing if there's any resemblance. Great choices this week Sam!
ReplyDeleteI am by no means sporty. I know basics of most sports, but I love that I can still enjoy a sports book without that base. Sometimes I am nervous, when they name-drop in a synopsis, but I think this one will deliver.
DeleteWow, in Throw Like A Girl I want to know who she hit with the punch because she loses out on so much from a single hit. That would be so hard to have to experience all at once :( The synopsis has me so curious about that book now...
ReplyDeleteThat's real world right there. I remember taking adolescent psych, and it is found, that many teens engage in reckless behaviors, because they never think "it will happen to them". It's good to see a character face pretty major consequences for bad decisions, and I sense a big personal journey and a cute romance, so you know I am there for that.
