Buy! Buy! Buy!
Today we are talking about those auto-buy authors. These are authors, who have never let me down. I know, that if I sit down with one of their books, I am guaranteed, at minimum, a solid 4-star read. I never feel like I am taking a chance or wasting time on their books, because when I get to that last page, I am satisfied and happy. Everyone already knows that Katie McGarry, Jennifer E. Smith, Sarah Dessen, and Kasie West are my YA queens, but I wanted to share some of my newer favorites. Therefore, I am including some authors with smaller catalogs, but small or not, all their books were fantastic. (My list would also include these authors, but I am trying to spread the love.)
Who are your auto-buy authors?

Spanky!!!!
ReplyDeleteJenn Bennett is an author I want to try- Starry Eyes looks really good.
She's amazing! You NEED to read a book by her.
DeleteAhh, I should have added Emma Mills to my auto-read list!
ReplyDeleteShe writes YA perfection. I smile just thinking about her books
DeleteOh my, I haven't read any of these except Jenn Bennett. I need to fix this!!
ReplyDeleteGenesis @ Whispering Chapters
If you are looking for some good YA, these ladies deliver.
DeleteI really want to read more by Jenn Bennett. I really enjoyed Alex, Approximately and I have Serious Moonlight and Starry Eyes at home just ready and waiting. And I know you’ve mentioned her adult novels, too.
ReplyDeleteI am telling you, if you make time to read Starry Eyes, you will regret nothing.
DeleteI would certainly like to get my hands Starry Eyes, it sounds sooo good.
ReplyDeleteMaybe your library has it? It's worth the read, because it's a delight from beginning to end
DeleteI haven't read a lot of these authors but I've heard amazing things about them. Everyone raves about Jenn Bennett
ReplyDeleteBecause Jenn Bennett's books are amazing. I even enjoyed her adult historical PNR books. There's something about the characters she writes and her dialog is always really smart too
DeleteYass, Jenn Bennett is also an autobuy author for me! I also really love Elizabeth Acevedo's first book and definitely need to check out her newest!
ReplyDeleteI liked Acevedo's second book even more than the first. Emoni was an incredible character, and I loved her story.
DeleteI love Jenn Bennett and Acevedo is a new to me author that I wish had a long backlist.
ReplyDeleteKaren @ For What It's Worth
We will have to keep supporting Acevedo, so she can write more books for us
DeleteI barely dared reading your post Sam as my wallet is aginizing and I am on a book ban! So many temptations woman!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was hard to limit it to 10. That's why I went with some of my newer favorites.
DeleteOoh nice picks! These are all new to me authors, though a few are familiar from having visited your blog often enough! ;)
ReplyDeleteHere's my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I have definitely screamed about all of these authors at one point. Maybe someday I will convert you to contemporaries. (HA!)
DeletePretty much all of these books are on my TBR pile somewhere, but I haven't read any of them yet. Good to know they're all worth the read. It's hard to know with newer authors sometimes.
ReplyDeleteIt is, but I feel I am more daring, because I have a great library system and I read a lot. Taking a risk is easier, when you're not paying and you are able to spend time on a book that you might not finish.
DeleteYESSS to Jenn Bennett and Katie Cotugno! Absolutely agree! I need to read more books by the other authors too- especially Sara Barnard, I think I own every one of her books, and STILL haven't read any! Great list!
ReplyDeleteBarnard was a wonderful find, and I was lucky enough to win her Twitter giveaway for the book not available in the US. I am always dumbfounded by bad reviews for Cotugno's books, because her books are fantastic and honest and messy and so is life.
DeleteJenn Bennett might just be getting there for me too. :)
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed her adult books too. The Roaring 20s books were really good
DeleteI really need to check out When Dimple Met Rishi! I don't know anyone who didn't like that book!
ReplyDeleteIt is another example of YA perfection. Dimple and Rishi are two of my fave YA characters, but honestly, all of Menon's books are excellent
DeleteSandhya Menon is such a sweetheart! And her books are great too. Well, I've only read Dimple so far, but I'm on the waiting list at the library for Sweetie on audiobook!
ReplyDeleteI have read all her full-lengths and the WDMR short. All delighted me and left me super happy
DeleteI've not read any of these authors yet. And I'm on a buying spree. Uh oh! LOL
ReplyDeleteIf you ever get a hankering for a good YA contemporary, pick one of these authors' books up. You won't be disappointed.
DeleteI love Kasie West and Katie McGarry! I need to add the less known authors that you have on your auto-buy list to my try out list! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLindy@ A Bookish Escape
West and McGarry are forever on my TBR, but I have been getting really lucky with some new authors.
DeleteOh wow! Your list is the first one that I've came across where I haven't read a single author yet. Most of these are sitting on my TBR, though. Hopefully soon!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to spotlight some new-to-you authors.
DeleteI'm going to read my Jenn Bennett purchase soon... Then, I'm going to read some of her other books. I've decided. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you would like her adult PNR books. They are great!
DeleteEmma Mills and Sara Biren are on my auto-buy list even though I didn't put them on my list. I adore them! Great choices!
ReplyDeleteWe could only pick 10. That's why I focused on some newer-to-me authors, and many of them only have 2 or so books too, but I loved them, and I want to read all their books
DeleteI haven't actually read any of these, but there are some there that are on my TBR list. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to some of them
DeleteI love your list so much! I also can't believe I forgot to put Sara Barnard on mine because she's definitely auto-buy for me.
ReplyDeleteI've read 4 of her books, and all were fabulous!
DeleteThere are so lovely authors (and covers) here, Sam. I could stare at them all day.
ReplyDeleteSome amazing new voices, and I am so happy I read them
DeleteGlad you're featuring some newer auto buy authors on your shelf. I'm the same, Jenn Bennett and Emma Mills just have to mention a new book and I'm there buying myself a copy. I'm a little behind on Sandhya Menon releases but I am definitely checking out her newest book soon(ish).
ReplyDeleteMenon came out the gate so strong for me, and her books have been consistently delightful. Definitely earned her way onto my list. I could have reiterated my love and adoration for all the YA names that are super established, but I have a thing for spreading the love, and I like to see some newer or newer to me authors get some attention.
