Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

A timely, searing, and unconventional romance from an urgent new voice in young adult fictionWhy I want to read this book
In one impulsive moment the summer before they leave for college, overachievers Scarlett and David plunge into an irresistible swirl of romance, particle physics, and questionable decisions. Told in non-linear, vivid first-person chapters, As Many Nows As I Can Get is the story of a grounded girl who's pulled into a lightning-strike romance with an electric-charged boy, and the enormity of the aftermath. Cerebral, accessible, bold, and unconventionally romantic, this is a powerful debut about grief, guilt, and reconciling who you think you need to be with the person you've been all along.
The cover captured me, but what I learned about this book, pulled me in:
- YA goes to college
- Physics!
- "Grief, addiction, first loves..." per Kirkus Review
- Cross country road trip
- Non-linear format
The reviews I have read made me tear up, so I can only imagine the emotional impact the book will have. It sounds a bit grittier than my norm, but I feel like all the other things I mentioned will balance that out.

Amelia Peabody lives in a small town where nothing changes. And that's just fine by her. After losing her big sister, Clara, a few years ago, Amelia can't handle any more change. But when she starts eighth grade, she accidentally receives a letter that Clara had written to herself. In it, there's a list of things she'd wanted to do before the end of middle school and never finished, like get on the softball team and throw an awesome birthday party on the lake. Why I want to read this book
Amelia wonders if it's a sign from Clara. Maybe if she completed the list, her heart would stop hurting so much, and she could go back to being her old self. But as she makes her way through, Amelia finds that there's no going back, only forward. And she realizes she'll have to put her own spin on Clara's list to grow and change in the ways she needs to.
K. A. Holt's beautiful new novel is about grieving and growing up, and the ripples loss creates for a girl, a family, and a community.
Tell me you weren't ready to cry, when you read that synopsis? It's so tragic, but I have to know how it all turned out. I added this book to my TBR after reading another book by this author, House Arrest, which I thought was fabulous, and I want to read more. Why not a grief and loss book, which is sort of my signature?

As Many Nows As I Can Get sounds so good! I love road trip books and YA goes to college. From You to Me sounds like a sad but potentially beautiful story. The synopsis did make me tear up.

One of the reasons I love reading middle grades books is because the sad is always tempered with hope. MG authors never leave me wallowing in my tears too long
DeleteI'm reading nothing but backlog books at the moment! I seem to have too many that I bought in 2010 and 2011 and I need to either read them or get rid of them!
ReplyDeleteSo far, my backlist has been producing hits for me. I am glad I am making the effort with it
DeleteOh how I neeeeeed As Many Nows As I Can Get! It sounds absolutely phenomenal and it's been so long since I've read an intense and highly emotional contemporary. Thank you for putting it on my radar!
ReplyDeleteRight! I feel like it will require some mental prep, but will be so worth it
DeleteBoth of these sound good and I should get back to reading these genres. And both of the covers are captivating:)
ReplyDeletePretty covers and contemporaries are my thing
DeleteI didn't know much about these, but I'd heard of the first one. Thanks for sharing!

Glad to shed some light on these books
DeleteThese both sound really good. I especially like the sounds of As Many Nows As I Can Get!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds wonderfully painful
Deleteooo i love road trips. hope you enjoy this one
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
I always like road trips too.
DeleteAs Many Nows As I Can Get sounds weird. I don't know what to expect from that one. I hope you enjoy it though even if it's a tear-jerker!
ReplyDeleteFrom what I read, it's sort of about obsessive love, but I will have to read it to confirm that.
DeleteThe girl on As Many Nows As I Can Get cover reminds me of Dakota Johnson lol. I hope these are 5 star reads when you get to read them <3
ReplyDeleteI totally see that. Maybe she was the cover inspiration
DeleteNice picks! Totally new to me ones as always! Lol. Hope you adore them both once you read them!
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
Have a GREAT day!

I AM reading the backlog book this week, but I will have to wait and see if I can get a copy of the second one.
DeleteOoh - I love Summer Before College stories. I feel like I have seen this book and hope we get to read it and it’s great!
ReplyDeleteI never have much luck with this publisher, but I will still try to read it, if my library has it, because the story sounds heartbreaking and emotional and fantastic.
DeleteBoth of those are ones that sound great! Thanks for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteI am all about spreading the book love
DeleteAs Many Nows As I Can Get sounds interesting, I like that the characters are a little older and heading off to college.
ReplyDeleteI like seeing more YA goes to college too, because they face a little different issues than a typical HS student with respect to normally being away from home, less structure, etc
DeleteYour signature totally is loss and grief! I hope you enjoy it. I actually didn't like the cover for As Many Nows As I Can Get but you totally captured my interest with your little list of what you like. Added! ❤️
ReplyDeleteI definitely see a lot of things that normally work for me in As Many Nows as I Can Get
DeleteAw, From You To Me sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteThat's like my niche right there
DeleteThese both sound like they're going to be such emotional reads. Make sure you have your tissues handy, lol. The cover for the first one has caught my eye for a while now but I hadn't read the synopsis until your post.
ReplyDeleteI'm a total sap, so tissues are always nearby
DeleteI think From You to Me is grabbing me more than the first -- non linear formats are somewhat hard for me to get into.
ReplyDeleteI am starting that book right after I finish blog hopping, and I am looking forward to sharing some pain with the MC
DeleteAs Many Nows as I Can Get sounds soo good!
ReplyDelete~Kendra @ Kendra Loves Books
