Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week I can't wait for
Her Royal Highness
Rachel Hawkins
Series: Royals, #2
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Publisher: Putnam
Release Date: May 7, 2019
Goodreads
Millie Quint is devastated when she discovers that her sort-of-best friend/sort-of-girlfriend has been kissing someone else. And because Millie cannot stand the thought of confronting her ex every day, she decides to apply for scholarships to boarding schools . . . the farther from Houston the better.

Millie can't believe her luck when she's accepted into one of the world's most exclusive schools, located in the rolling highlands of Scotland. Everything about Scotland is different: the country is misty and green; the school is gorgeous, and the students think Americans are cute.

The only problem: Mille's roommate Flora is a total princess.

She's also an actual princess. Of Scotland.

At first, the girls can barely stand each other--Flora is both high-class and high-key--but before Millie knows it, she has another sort-of-best-friend/sort-of-girlfriend. Even though Princess Flora could be a new chapter in her love life, Millie knows the chances of happily ever afters are slim . . . after all, real life isn't a fairy tale . . . or is it?
Why I want to read this book

Royals was such a hit for me, and when I found out this was going to be a series, I was like:

I liked getting to know Flora bit in the last book, and she was really complicated, which made me want her story even more. I expect a return to the fun, humor, and bit of drama that Hawkins treated me to in the first book, but mostly, I am in it for the feels.

No Place Like Here
Christina June
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary
Publisher: Blink
Release Date: May 21. 2019
Goodreads
From Christina June, author of It Started with Goodbye and Everywhere You Want to Be, comes No Place Like Here, a modern twist on Hansel and Gretel. Ashlyn Zanotti has big plans for the summer. She’s just spent a year at boarding school and can’t wait to get home. But when Ashlyn’s father is arrested for tax evasion and her mother enters a rehab facility for “exhaustion,” her life is turned upside down.

The cherry on top? Ashlyn’s father sends her to work with a cousin she doesn’t even know at a rustic team-building retreat center in the middle of nowhere. A self-proclaimed “indoor girl,” not even Ash’s habit of leaving breadcrumb quotes—inspirational sayings she scribbles everywhere—can help her cope.

With a dangerously careless camp manager doling out grunt work, an overbearing father trying to control her even from prison, and more than a little boy drama to struggle with, the summer is full of challenges. And Ashlyn must make the toughest decision of her life: keep quiet and follow her dad’s marching orders, or find the courage to finally stand up to her father to have any hope of finding her way back home.

Fans looking for clean teen fiction, with elements of drama, romance, friendship, and an unflinching look into navigating and improving even the most difficult parent-teen relationships need look no further.
Why I want to read this book

I like Christina June's. Each has been a twist on a fairytale, and each story has been sweet and heartwarming. I am always looking for more of that. I am also intrigued that this is a Hansel and Gretel retelling, and I want to see how June goes about putting her own spin on that tale.
What are you waiting on?

    1. I wasn't sure after the first book, how Hawkins was going to approach the series, but I am glad she is giving each royal a story. Flora was a really interesting character too, so I am excited to get to know her better.

    1. I became a fan via Hex Hall, then I read her Rebel Belle series, and it was good for me as well. Royals is different, as it's contemporary not paranormal, but her humor is all over it, and I really enjoyed it.

    1. I think when the first book came out, there was a mumbling about it being a series, but it really came to fruition after I read the first book. They redid the name and cover of the first book, which is in line, style-wise with this one. I like it, because I got to know Flora a little in the first book, and the cover is a very good representation of her essence.

    1. Flora was how she was, because she was struggling with her sexuality. I like that she gets to be herself in this book, and that Hawkins is giving her an HEA.
