My Week in Review
Another quiet week. I am living vicariously through all those, who were in NOLA for ALA. I hope everyone had a great time there, and maybe, someday, I will get to attend the event myself.
NetGalley users: Did anyone find books downloaded at the end of March missing from their Kindles? I went to read a few books, which show the same date downloaded, but they were nowhere to be found. Not on my Kindle, not in my cloud, not in my downloads folder, NOwhere. I was able to get two of the books from the library, but not the third. *sad face*
I watch this clip every time I see it on my feed. If the movie matches the charm of this clip, it's going to be ah-mazing!

What I Am Currently Reading
I ma currently listening to Hot Shot, which I think is the final book in this series, since Fox is the last brother. This is by far the messiest of the three stories, and right now things have gotten really complicated. Loving it!
I am getting ready to start Freshmen, which I have been wanting to read since its UK release. This duo writes really fun books, and I am all about those YA books go to college right now.
What I Plan to Read
- Zen and Gone by Emily France
- Notes From My Captivity by Kathy Parks
- Love Me, Love Me Not by SM Koz
- Smothered by Autumn Chiklis
How was your week?
Let us know in the comments!
I like a good quiet week! Mine was kinda that way too- not a lot going on. And I'm a little jealous of the folks in NOLA ha ha. :) I'm not familiar with All The Boys (although I've heard of the book) but that trailer does look fun!
ReplyDeleteDaria and Aeon Flux? Oh my.
I have Wild Bird too and need to read it at some point. Have a great weekend!
I have never been to NOLA, so it would have been a perfect trip, but I had to use my vacation (and money) for my daughter's move. =/ I am hoping an ALA convention will be back in driving distance soon. Wait! I guess Daria and Aeon Flux were contemporaries, so why not? Van Draanen's books are all really great. I didn't love Wild Bird as much as the other two, but that's just because I have a thing about angst, though, it fit the story really well, and you know, redemption is always something that makes me smile.
DeleteI was very, very tempted to go to ALA this year. It's so close to me. I just wasn't sure I could make my way around NOLA. I love ALA.
ReplyDeletehttps://readerbuzz.blogspot.com/2018/06/paris-in-july-great-american-read-and.html
I would have had to fly to ALA, and I spent so much money moving my child to Chicago. Maybe next year. --sigh--
DeleteA remake of Daria!!? I am not sure how I feel about that, but I definitely feel like rewatching the show! Ha ha! Enjoy your new books!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read details, but I feel like if the original writers are involved, it could be great.
DeleteI’m also living vicariously through the people at ALA. I really want to go to a big bookish event someday. They always look like fun.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I usually go to BookCon, but I was in Chicago that weekend. *sad face* It's the first one I have missed.
DeleteNow I have to go check my kindle to see if books are missing!!!!!! Gah! That would suck!
ReplyDeleteI was so disappointed, because the book I was looking for was the series finale and it had been archived. Now, I check after I download from NetGalley.
DeleteLooks like a good reading week and about to be another one! I used to really enjoy Karina Halle's work, so I'm intrigued to see what you think. Also, How to Breathe Underwater looks like a great one! Wonderful Sunday post, Sam! :)
ReplyDeleteHalle is always a solid read for me, which I why I keep going back. I enjoyed all three books in this series. I wasn't that into the "romantic" scenes in the second book, which were not to my taste, but I did like the actual story portion of the book. She did a nice job tying up the series with the final book.
DeleteQuiet weeks are good but ALA would be better. That stinks about NG and the kindle. I will have to check mine now! I was excited to get the new CL book too! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHa! ALA would be better. (thanks for the laugh) That NG thing looks like it was books I downloaded on the same day. I guess I will have to buy the one book.
DeleteQuite week here as well. I'll have to go back and check my NG books on my kindle. I hadn't noticed any missing but I do have three or four older ones on my shelf. I'll be curious to see if they've gone missing on me.
ReplyDeleteI think it was a glitch on that one day, but when I contacted NG about it, they didn't have any record. It's frustrating, because my shelf says the books were downloaded, but they are nowhere.
DeleteI also watched the ALA posts with interest. I loved Rainy Day Friends and rated it as you did, although I got the audio for review. You had an amazing reading week! I've only had one book disappear on me in 5 years+ on Netgalley. No idea how it happened. Anne - Books of My Heart
ReplyDeleteI know I was late on reading the book, but I really wanted to read it too. Maybe the library will get it, otherwise, I will break down and buy it, because I really wanted to read it. I am so in love with the Wildstone series. I will forever read every book Shalvis releases.
DeleteI wish i'd been able t attend ALA. It was within easy driving distance but I really couldn't afford to go. Maybe next time. Looks like you have plenty of new reads to keep you busy for a bit. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
BookCon/BookExpo are the ideal cons for me, because I can stay home, and just travel to the city each day. I remember, we went to YallFest one year. The festival is free, but the hotel was like $700 for the weekend and airfare was almost $300 per person. It was very expensive, but I did have a fabulous time.
DeleteI had a book that didn't make it to my kindle account even though it showed up as being downloaded. I have also had a file get corrupted so that it showed up in my archive but wouldn't download. Frustrating. I was lucky enough to be able to use the library in those cases. I have now learned to verify that each book is actually downloaded on my kindle when I get it.
ReplyDeleteYou read Bountiful! I loved that book :) I just loved Dave, Zara, and Nicole. Enjoy all of your new books and have a great week!
I am glad the library had two of the books, but the one I really wanted to read is the not there (yet?). I was not sure going into Bountiful, because of mixed reviews, but I really loved it. Bowen has yet to disappoint me.
DeleteSurviving Adam Meade sounds really good. I love the cover. I hope you enjoy your new books.
ReplyDeleteKrystianna @ Downright Dystopian
I am looking forward to that one. I am a big fan of sports romances, and the Friday Night Lights vibe I am getting plus hate-to-love romance has me eager to read it.
DeleteI haven't noticed any issues with NetGalley, but maybe I missed something. I'll have to go check.
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
All three books were downloaded on the same day in early March. I am really sad about one of them.
DeleteI sooo wish I could have went to ALA. We actually have family down there so it wouldn't even be an issue of a place to stay. *sigh* I'm now checking into my Netgalley account to see if anything funny is going on. My kindle has been acting with with docs lately anyways.
ReplyDeleteEven when my kindle was acting up, all my docs were still in my Amazon cloud. These three were missing, and alas, the archive date has passed, so they are gone forever. I would have been at ALA if I had a place to stay. It reduces the cost by a huge factor.
DeleteWhew, there's always so much going on in your Sunday posts. I love that two traielrs were dropped - To All the Boys, and THUG! Very exciting for the YA world (and world in general, hehe). I loved Surviving Adam Meade. 😍 I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous week, Sam. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
I hope both movies are as good as their trailers and their books.
DeleteWow, they are doing a Daria reboot. I will have to check that out. I have to check out the books of 2019 that is going to be sweet! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteMary my #Sunday Roundup #24!
Daria was such a huge part of my teen/college years. She's a kindred spirit, and I can't wait to see what they have in store for us.
DeleteI cannot wait for the To All the Boys I've Loved Before movie. It looks utterly charming. I saw the news about Daria...I am tentatively excited. I love The Memory of Light. It's one of those underrated books I'd love to see more people pick up. Glad you did! Have a good week :)
ReplyDeleteI have a good feeling about the TATBILB adaptation. I got all the good feels from the trailer. I saw Stork on a panel, and he wowed me. I have been wanting to pick something up from him for a long time, and I am so glad I did.
DeleteOh my gosh same, vicariously living through all ALA attendees! I'm pretty jealous that they all got to hang in NOLA, which is seriously one of the most magical places on earth. That cover for Smothered is absolute perfection! I may have to read it just for that alone.
ReplyDeleteSooner or later, I will attend ALA. Smothered sounds really good. I am looking forward to reading it.
DeleteI've read so many reviews for To All The Boys I've Loved Before but haven't read the book. The trailer for the movie looks awesome. Now I'm torn between reading the book and watching the movie. (Can't really do both or I'll hate one of them...) I think I'll watch the movie. YA contemporaries (as I've said before, lol) aren't really my favourite things to read but I'll go for one every now and again.
ReplyDeleteI love Han's series. Lara Jean is one of my favorite characters, and the family dynamic is amazing in that series.
