Amanda Searcy
Series: n/a
Release Date: Oct. 23, 2018
Release Date: Oct. 23, 2018
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Waited on by: Sam
Jenny didn't want to move to the creepy, possibly haunted town with her dad. But the cops are on to her, and the only way she can protect herself is by moving as far away from her hometown as possible and staying out of trouble. Why can't I wait to read this book?
But even after she moves, Jenny still gets the itch. The itch to light a match and then watch it burn.
It's something she hasn't been able to stop, ever since an accident years ago. Now, in a new town, Jenny has the strange feeling that someone is watching her every move. Will her arsonist ways be exposed? Or is the burning truth deep inside her a greater danger?
- Search's debut, The Truth Beneath the Lies, was fabulous! I am thinking she is going to take me on another thrill ride in this book.
- It's set in a creepy, possibly haunted town. 😱
- She's on the run from the cops.
- I think Jenny is a pyromaniac. I haven't see that in quite a while.
- A stranger is watching.
What are you waiting on?
Let us know in the comments!
I don't think I've read anything with a pyromaniac as the main character. Sure sounds like it will be a good one!
ReplyDeleteMe neither, so I am intrigued by that. Her books are darker than I normally go for, but I enjoyed her debut so much, I am willing to make the exception.
Deletethis sounds intense. Sounds really good. I have added it to my TBR.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good way to describe Searcy's last book, and I am thinking this will be similar in style.
DeleteI don't think I've ever read a book with a pyromaniac character. How interesting! Thanks for introducing it to me!
ReplyDeleteThat was exactly what I was thinking when I read the synopsis. I am always looking for something a little different too.
DeleteI wasn't interested in this until I heard creepy haunted town. That's pretty much sucked me right in!
ReplyDeleteI bet you didn't think I had it in me, eh? 😂 If I hadn't already read something by this author, I probably wouldn't put this so high on my list, but I think Searcy will deliver a great story.
DeleteDon’t think I’ve ever read about an arsonist before. That’s a unique twist. And the fact that someone’s watching ratchets up the suspense!
ReplyDeleteThat is what I am hearing from a lot of people, and I don't think I have either. The closest I get is November 9, but that was not really a case of pyromania.
DeleteThis is the first I've heard of this book, but it does sound really good!! I hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I am hoping the author can deliver once again for me.
DeleteThis one sounds great. I love the cover.
ReplyDeleteKrystianna @ Downright Dystopian
The cover is really good, and I think it captures the mood indicated in the synopsis quite well.
DeleteGreat cover and unique twist on main character! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts and read your review! ♥️
ReplyDeleteI am really curious to see how this plays out in the book
DeleteThis sounds like it will be really tense! Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteIf Searcy's debut is any indication, I think this will be a rather intense read, but she knows how to temper it so as to not overwhelm me.
DeleteOoh I like the pyro angle and her being on the run from the cops. Yes please.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping it gets my heart pounding. It should be a great change of pace for me.
DeleteAdded this one to my list! I don't think I've ever read a book about an arsonist before. Also, she leaves town with her dad... does that mean he knows her secret? Thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteL @ Do You Dog-ear?
Good question! Hopefully one we will get the answer to if we read the book.
DeleteThis one is completely new to me and I like how different it sounds. I may have to try to get my hands on this one. I hope you enjoy it when you get the chance to read it, Sam!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I mix things up, but I am more daring with this selection, because I have read the author's previous book.
DeleteThis is neat! Creepy thriller is something I have a love/hate relationship with. They intrigue me but I'm way too scared of them. 😂 Happy reading, Sam!
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic day. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Her last book was heart pumping, but not too scary
DeletePyromania and ghosts? Definitely not a combination I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteIt sounded really fresh to me as well
DeleteOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooh. I'm intrigued. I love me some haunted towns. Even better than haunted houses! Plus throw in a good mystery and I'm so intrigued. Great post, Sam! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty far from my norm, but I thought her debut was great
DeleteThis sounds creepy and fantastic! I'll definitely be watching to see what you think of this book.
ReplyDeleteI hope it delivers in the same way her debut did
DeleteI've been seeing a theme lately - Eleanor Oliphant is Absolutely Fine, Little Fires Everywhere and this one... Maybe we just want to watch the world burn ;)
ReplyDeleteJust kidding! Sounds intriguing to me too ;)
I had to set aside Eleanor Oliphant. I wasn't in the right headspace for it, so I never got to the pyro part. Honestly, I had no idea that was part of the story.
