This Week’s Topic:
Spring Picks for 2018
You know I have a million books I want to read that are being released this spring, but I thought it would be more interesting to feature books I have yet to feature, and also books I don't already have. So, this is a true spring wish list for me, featuring books that will release between March 20th and June 21st.
David Arnold
Series: n/a
Publisher: Viking Children's
I got a quick rejection for this book on Edelweiss, but I still want to read it. I don't even care what it's about, because David Arnold wrote it, and I absolutely loved his last two books (Kids of Appetite, Mosquitoland). I will say that the premise sounds interesting, with Noah seeing everything in a new way after being hypnotized, and I know Arnold will deliver a great story.
Natasha Friend
Series: n/a
Publisher: Farrar, Straus and Giroux
Cue a few tears. One characters loses her friends, when she loses her hair due to alopecia. The other main character loses his legs and his identity as a football star. Fate brings them together, and they find strength in each other as they navigate their new norms. I really enjoyed Friend's last book, The Other F-Word, and I am all about stories like this one.
Aminah Mae Safi

Publisher: Feiwel & Friends
I am sensing a great story with a focus on a strong female friendship, which is something I always enjoy. I also like that the main character made a mistake and will be looking for a way to correct this error. Stories featuring strong characters, who experience growth are always high on my list.
Tamara Ireland Stone

Publisher: Disney-Hyperion
I am such a Tamara Ireland Stone fan. Her books always work for me, and this one about getting to the truth of what broke this friendship has me totally intrigued. Early reviews have been raves, which makes me even more excited about reading this book.
Amy Tintera
Series: Ruined, #3
Publisher: HarperTeen
This is it! The final book, and I am so ready to see how it all ends. I am extremely invested in this story and must see how it all plays out. This is a series I have grown to love, and I will miss looking forward to more of this world when it's all over.
Cecilia Vinesse

Publisher: Poppy
Vinesse's last book, Seven Days of You, was a solid read for me. Vinesse did such a good job taking me on a tour of Tokyo in her last book. So, I was really excited to see we would be touring Europe this time, with five friends, who have a bunch of complicated entanglements. Sounds fun to me.
Nisha Sharma

Publisher: Crown Books for Young Readers
Winnie thought her future was written in the stars, but then she was done wrong by Raj, "her true love". Now she has to decide if she should abandon the prophecy and follow her heart. This awesome story and a dash of Bollywood should result in a fun and pleasing story.
Sandy Hall

Publisher: Swoon Reads
I had the pleasure of attending a Swoon Reads tour, which featured Sandy Hall, and let me tell you, she is hilarious. I was not surprised, because her sense of humor shines in her writing. A guaranteed dose of humor plus a promtastic tale seems quite promising to me.

How fun does this sound? With her overprotective brother and his friend out of the picture, Stella can now focus on finding a boyfriend by Christmas. This sort of planning always goes wrong, usually in a fun way, and then there is the added complication of her past crush coming back around. This book has my name written all over it.

Publisher: Swoon Reads
I always find myself wanting to read all the Swoon titles, and here is another one on my TBR. An actor, who is sort of down on his luck, gets a "pity invite" from the author of the book series he auditioned for. I am a sucker for the "different worlds" romance trope and the combination of setting and drama sound like a winning combination to me.

You know, outside of my handle of favorite authors, I actually don't pay a lot of attention to upcoming release. (I know, I know, what kind of book blogger am I? LOL) I do like Tamara Ireland Stone so I imagine I'll be getting her new one from the library. :)
ReplyDeleteYou know I am obsessively on GR. How else would I have so many books on my TBR. I am such a Stone fan. I wish her book wasn't being published by Disney, because they HATE me, and are the one publisher that like auto-rejects me (though I keep trying).
DeleteLooking forward to several books in this list, but especially Aminah Mae's, Tamara Ireland Stone's and Nisha Sharma's. They sound right up my alley!

DeleteI had no idea Natasha Friend was releasing a new book. I'm so excited now! I've been curious about The Strange Fascinations of Noah Hypnotik, but I've also seen some super negative reviews so I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on it. Great list!

DeleteNot the Girls You're Looking For looks great. I haven't heard of this one, but I love the strong female friendship idea.

ReplyDeleteGlad to see I was rejected in good company. I think that publishers rejected all 12 of my requests at once. I felt like I was being banned, but que sera sera. The Summer of Us sounds really fun and Vinesse is so good at helping us "see" the sights. I am looking forward to her bringing us to Europe.

Hall is a go-to for laughs and the mention of Bollywood had me adding MSCBL to my TBR. Love Scene just sounds so fun, I couldn't resist.

DeleteMost of these are new to me including How We Roll, which sounds absolutely fantastic! I'm also looking forward to Not the Girls You're Looking For and My So-Called Bollywood Life. I think I'm the most excited about the latter, since I'm a big Bollywood fan ahaha. Great picks, Sam!
ReplyDeleteI saw Bollywood in the title and instantly added the book to my TBR. If the book can capture any of that feeling that a Bollywood film conveys, it will be awesome.
DeleteOur reading tastes evolve. Since I was asked to join the blog, I am reading a lot more YA (obviously), but I still indulge in my contemporary romances, because they are my lifeblood.

ReplyDeleteI have found that because I don't read a lot of SFF, my TBR will have some lesser known books. I also like to read debuts, many of which tend to be less hyped. Not the Girls has a great story and a great premise. I am super excited about it. Hope one of us gets to read it.

Deleteof you list I think my favorite would be Not the Girls You're Looking For because I also love stories about female friendship. My most anticipated are Hell Divers 3 and Dread Nation :)
ReplyDeleteDread Nation is quite the hot book. I've seen that one everywhere, and it's getting a ton of great buzz. I hope you love it when you read it. And, yes, female friendships are the best.
