My Week in Review
I think those of us that survived the nor'easter can claim that March came in like a lion. I am really grateful we didn't lose power, and I feel bad for all those who did. Otherwise, we had catering from Panera last week, and these amazing cakes on Friday. Did I mention how much I loved tax season? I also won a $20 Amazon gift card from The Candid Cover (Thank you!!!), and my daughter is starting to get job offers.
Can we talk about Twitter bookmarks? I don't know about you, but I was pretty excited. Now I don't have to DM myself all those tweets to check out later.
I thought this was really awesome

STACKING THE SHELVES
Not a ton of approvals, but they are all awesome. I also got a free book from my romance readers club, and Meghan Quinn is always a fun read.
Free
- Co-Wrecker by Meghan Quinn
NetGalley/Edelweiss
- Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren
- Someday, Somewhere by Lindsay Champion
- The Universe Is Expanding and So Am I by Carolyn Mackler
What I Read Last Week
- Full Tilt by Emma Scott (audiobook): So many tears! This one reminds you to treasure every second you have with the ones you love and never pass up a chance at true love. ★★★★
- All In by Emma Scott (audiobook): The tears continued in this sequel to Full Tilt. The drama was so high in this one, but there was also healing, reconciliation, and moving forward after a huge loss. ★★★ 1/2
- The Science of Breakable Things by Tae Keller: I love science and stories about growing up and this book combine the two in a way that delivered so many feels. ★★★★
- Olivia Twist by Lori Langdon: So many things that pleased my inner sap and made me smile. I liked that Langdon made only a slight change to the original story instead of doing a full retelling, and rather, went in the direction of giving us her version of what happened next. ★★★★
- Chaotic Good by Whitney Gardner: A fun look at fandoms and geek culture, which showcases the good, the bad, and the ugly side of it all. I loved the art, the story, the characters, the D&D references, and so much more. ★★★★
- Virgin Territory by Lia Riley: Another great Hellions book, which delivered the Sam-trifecta: I laughed, smiled, and swooned. My chief complaint was that I wished these books were longer, because I utterly enjoyed all my time with these characters and wanted more. ★★★★
- 806 by Cynthia Weil: This book reminded me of a sit-com. The tone of the book was kept light, though the topic was sort of serious, and the ending was the sweetest part with everything tied up in a neat little bow. ★★★ 1/2
- In Sight of Stars by Gae Polisner: A painfully beautiful book about love, loss, and healing. Polisner did an amazing job immersing me Klee's head. There were times where his pain, suffering, and confusion were so palpable, my pulse was racing and tears fell from my eyes. ★★★★
What I Am Currently Reading
Runaway Groom is quite funny, which is what I expected from Layne, and I am loving the reality show angle. I really like the mystery of who kissed Macy in the dark, and I am really curious about what happened Junior year to create all this drama between these former friends in A Kiss in the Dark.
- A Kiss in the Dark by Gina Ciocca
- Runaway Groom by Lauren Layne (audiobook)
What I Plan to Read
I am still reading from my endless list of March releases, but I am excited about them.
- Finding Felicity by Stacey Kade
- The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw
- The Secrets We Bury by Stacie Ramey
- Kasey & Ivy by Alison Hughes
How was your week?
Let us know in the comments!
Glad you didn't lose power! I need to read Chaotic Good, it sounds like a blast, and Flight Season sounds great too.
ReplyDeleteMmm Panera. Love their food. :)
Chaotic Good was a lot of fun, but also had some substance, by challenging sexism in fandoms. Flight Season <3 So much love for this book.
DeleteYay for winning the Amazon gift card and for your daughter receiving job offers!
ReplyDeleteThere is a Twitter bookmark?
Enjoy all of your books!
I don't see it on the web app, but on the phone app, it's an option under the share menu. I like it better than DMing tweets to myself all the time.
Delete29 books?! Holy beejeebers!
ReplyDeleteReally 21 books, 8 were audiobooks. I pretty much always get through 5 books a week and 2 audio.
DeleteSo glad you made it through the storm okay! We got lucky and didn't lose power, but I was definitely worried about it all night long!
ReplyDeleteThe wind was crazy, and when it started snowing, I was so scared we were going to end up with accumulations, but we didn't. Whew! Glad to hear you made out ok too.
DeleteYay for not losing power!! The pics and stories about that storm have been crazy! I read about a city in NY that got 40 inches of snow! Thats NUTS!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new books!
The storm was horrible. We got off easy in these parts. My daughter was in Syracuse and they got about a foot, but no big thing for them up in those parts.
DeleteThat's awesome that she is donating money from the sale of the book. I am riding out the storm that took out our power at a friends. So surreal looking at all the downed trees and power lines cut in half. They say we won't have power to our area till Wednesday!! Have a good Sunday!
ReplyDeleteMary #SundayRoundup #8
I love seeing social media used for good things. So sorry you lost power, but I am glad you have awesome friends to spend time with. Ever since Sandy, I get really nervous when there is a storm. I think I have PTSD from the 8 days of no power, heat, cable, hot water, etc.
DeleteWow Sam how do you read all the books? alongside work and everything else? you must tell me of your secret ways! I love that you've been reading a ton, but also a lot of them are from EW and NG, I've made it my mission to try and read a lot of my ARCS and own books this year, I've been neglecting them both for such a long time! I really liked Love and other Words, so can't wait to see how you find it. I will also be on the lookout for your updates on A Kiss in the Dark, I hope you have a great week Sam! :)
ReplyDeleteI read on the way to and from work, but I also wake up early, and I like to read in the morning when it's quiet. I have an obscene number of March releases, but then my number drop for all other months. I really want to do 50/50 with old and new books. I am looking forward to Love and Other Words, because, well Christina Lauren. I finished A Kiss in the Dark this morning. I liked it.
DeleteLosing power is the worst! Glad yours is still working.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your books and your week...enjoy! Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
I know. I am too modern day for no electricity.
DeleteCongrats on the giveaway win :) and Feb was a good book month for me as well. I also read 13, which for me is a huuuuge number :) so I'm really happy. A few months like this and I'll ace my goodreads goal xD xD
ReplyDeleteThat win made my week. I now have $30 in Amazon gift cards, but am trying to be strategic about which books I buy. I know you will make your GR goal. You have been reading like a beast lately.
DeleteGlad to hear you didn’t lose power. Our storms here were pretty bad, but we didn’t lose power either, down the moutain a couple of trees uprooted and blocked the roads from all the flooding. But no damage to the houses surrounding them, so that was good. No more rain this week, just incoming snow. Yay!. Not! Enjoy your new books and have a wonderful week Sam. :)
ReplyDeleteI was so happy the snow didn't stick. I think I almost had a panic attack when people said it was snowing. EEK! Glad the trees didn't cause any harm.
DeleteGlad to hear that you kept your power. It has been pretty nice in the Midwest and I don't really watch the news so I was a bit surprised to find out about the weather hitting other parts of the country. It looks like you had a fantastic month of reading. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
ReplyDeleteIt was a good reading month, though I will be happy when I get through March, because I am reading only review books right now, and I need a little break from writing full on reviews.
DeleteOh that storm was not fun. I had to go out a lot for appts with the baby and it was a pain. We didn't lose power though either. YAY for Panera. I love their food. You got some great books and read a bunch I want to read last week. Love all the stats. Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteIt's no fun taking out an infant in messy weather. I would have lost it if we had lost power. It's the worst.
DeleteThe storm hit where I was too. I didn't lose power either, which I was happy about, but it still wasn't fun to have to walk through all the snow, sleet, and rain. I was approved for Love and Other Words this week too! It'll be my first book by Christina Lauren so I'm exciting to see if I love her as much as everyone else. I'm also curious to hear your thoughts on Someday, Somewhere. It looks like my kind of read, but I'm not 100% sold yet. I just finished The Secrets We Bury this week, and I thought it was amazing. I didn't expect to love it nearly as much as I did. Have a great week, Sam!
ReplyDeleteYeah for Christina Lauren! I have read other NA/Adult books by them and Autoboyography was just ah-mazing.
DeleteI didn't know about Twitter bookmarks---now I need to go figure out how those work!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
It's an option under the share icon. I love it.
DeleteGlad to see you made it through the storm. Another one is coming. I heard them mention Bombogenesis on the news. Ugh! I just hope it waits til Tuesday so I don't have to drive to work through it.
ReplyDelete29 books is more than a book a day. I wish I could get so much reading done. I got The Wicked Deep just this week. Have a great week and happy reading!
Oh, no! No more talks of storms. It's really 21 books and 8 audiobooks. I always listen to them at work, and it helps me keep up with my romance reading. I am excited about The Wicked Deep and keep hearing good things. So, fingers crossed we like it too.
DeleteI haven't used the bookmark feature on Twitter, but it sounds useful! I always used to like tweets/screenshot them and then totally forget to go back and check them out lol.
ReplyDeleteAnd great reading week! I'm lucky if I get one book read in a week! LOL
I would DM myself interesting tweets, but this is so much easier. It's a feature I always liked on Instagram too. A book a week is good too. I just have a lot of travel time to fill, so why not fill it with books.
DeleteWow! You had an awesome reading week. I am definitely interested in Christina Lauren's latest book. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteChristina Lauren is always good for me, so I am super hyped to read it.
DeleteWe got lucky and didn't lose power either, but wow, that wind was insane!
ReplyDeleteI like the new twitter bookmark feature too. I was always 'liking' tweets that I wanted to go back and read or save as references and then losing track of them because I like so many tweets, lol.
Hope you have a great week!
The bookmarks are awesome, but they don't seem to work from the web based app (unless I am missing something). Still exploring and hoping to cut down on my DMs to myself.
DeleteThank goodness you didn’t lose power! Congrats on the Amazon card! That’s one of my favorite gifts ever. Naturally. :) Thanks for sharing my retweet about Lauren’s new Facebook group. It’s been fun discovering other bloggers there. I’m reading Love and Other Words now and it’s off to a good start. And I definitely want to read more from Emma Scott. Loved the one I read last year.
ReplyDeleteAmazon cards really are my fave. Full Tilt was so much melodrama, but in the most delicious way. Seriously, could not stop listening and crying. There was lots of crying.
DeleteI ended up getting lucky that we didn't lose power. My friend has been out and it might be back on tomorrow. Yay on winning an Amazon Card. Now back to snow this week. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSo far, this storm isn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I think it is supposed to get progressively worse. Lucky I already had the day scheduled off for a doctor's appointment (which was canceled).
DeleteThe Blogging Memes list for 2018 is so useful! Congrats on reading 29 books last month! I will forever strive to read at least a fifth of that per month in the coming months :)
ReplyDeleteI love memes and when I am not feeling the topic, I will try out another one. They are a great way to vary how I talk about books and connect to other readers.
DeleteSam I'm so sorry I'm so behind in coming to visit! Last week was awfully busy! I'm one that lives in the North Eastern and had quite some damage to our property. I god I LOVE Panera so much! Congrats of winning that $20 gift card!
ReplyDeleteNo worries. Come when you can. Sorry to hear you sustained damage to your property.
