My Week in Review
This was a pretty swell week. Who doesn't love a three day weekend and a four day work week? We also had not one, but TWO free lunches at work. One luncheon was for two co-workers who are moving to new roles in the company, and the other one was because we were picking up the volumes dues to our Florida campus closing on Friday as they prepare for Irma. My heart goes out to all my Florida homies. Stay safe! So, I didn't do much, by Noor and Kiersten attending the Tower of Dawn event, and left with signed books and this epic photo.
I saw this on the internet this week, and my heart about melted.
Sofie is battling #cancer. She's fierce, she is strong, she is #wonderwoman. Find out how https://t.co/NEXMb2Y4Tf@PattyJenks @TheEllenShow pic.twitter.com/ybCDWUWly7— Josh Rossi (@JoshRossiPhoto) September 1, 2017
I was also pretty excited when Lauren at My Paper Infinity shared John Green reading the first chapter of his new book.
And then, there's this:

- A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard

What I Read Last Week
- Once and For All by Sarah Dessen: This book was such a beautiful story of cherishing those we have in our lives. It's about love, loss, and healing. I cried. ★★★★ 1/2
- Nowhere But Here by Renee Carlino (audiobook): I was so in love with the hero in this book, so nothing else really mattered. 😝 ★★★★
- The Lost Causes by Jessica Etting & Alyssa Schwartz: I have seen people say this book has some shades of the TV show Heroes, and they may be onto something. I really liked how the twists kept coming up until the very last page. ★★★ 1/2
- Play On by Michelle Smith: I am a fan of this series and am glad I finally went back to red the first book, because it had such a beautiful message of acceptance and what it means to love someone. ★★★★
- Remember When by T. Torrest (audiobook): This book was a fun walk down memory lane, but also pretty bittersweet with respect to closing chapters of your life. ★★★★
- The Date to Save by Stephanie Kate Strohm: It was so much fun to be back in this world and I loved being there as Angelica attempts to save homecoming. ★★★★ 1/2
- The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F.C. Yee: The hype is real. I really enjoyed the way Yee integrated Chinese folklore into this story and Genie Lo such a fantastic heroine. ★★★★ 1/2
What I Am Currently Reading
- Midnight Jewel by Richelle Mead: I am about halfway through, and I am really liking Mira's story. I like that way Mead went with concurrent storylines, and I am enjoying seeing where they fit in first book.
- Flow by Kennedy Ryan (audiobook): These are characters from Ryan's Soul series (which I really enjoyed), and I have been wanting their backstory and love story forever.
What I Plan to Read
- Fool Me Once by Katherine Bybee
- A Short History of the Girl Next Door by Jared Reck
- Speak Easy, Speak Love by McKelle George
- Liars and Losers Like Us by Ami Allen-Vath
How was your week?
Let us know in the comments!
Oh my gosh, that photo is indeed so epic :) absolutely love it. The dragon :D the crown! The sword.. I want a photo like that xD even if I haven't read the book!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that Wonderwoman photo is amazing indeed. I didn't even get it before I looked at the caption! Thanks for sharing.
Noor does wear her crown well. I wish I had been there. That photoshoot brought tears to my eyes. It's a beautiful how something sort of small could be such an empowering thing for these kids.
DeleteLooks like someone had fun at the Maas event. :) And yes that Wonder Woman pic- amazing.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Lost Causes isn't a bad read! I like the sound of the twists.
Lost Causes was pretty good. It got much better as I kept reading. The later part of the story is stuffed with some great reveals. And like seriously, check out the whole photo shoot. This is one epic little Justice League.
DeleteGlad to hear that Epic Crush did not disappoint. Hope you enjoy your new reads this week just as much!

Genie Lo was fabulous! I am really hoping Yee might revisit them, because though the ending resolved this big conflict, it left the door open for more of Genie and Quinten.
DeleteOoh nice new reads! I have to say that they are all new to me ones! I hope you enjoy them and your week ahead!
ReplyDeleteHere's my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I know you lean more PNR and I am a hardcore romance reader.
DeleteH, that Maas photo is awesome! Looks like it must have been a fun event.
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone you know is safe from Irma. My sister-in-law lives right outside of Tampa so I'm very worried about her right now and keeping everyone in the path of the storm in my prayers.
I can't wait to see what you think of Speak Easy, Speak Love. That's one I'm dying to read.
Have a great week!
Hurricane season always has me on pins and needles, but it seems this one is coming with a vengeance. I love that pic of Noor, Kiersten, and Sloth. Fabulous! I am hearing all sorts of good buzz for Speak Easy, so I hope I like it too.
DeleteFree lunches are always the best type of lunches lol I just bought North to You since I can't resist a $1.99 price and all the good buzz around the book. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying Midnight Jewel. I wasn't the biggest fan of The Glittering Court...it was just so boring for me, which I've never felt before when reading a Mead book. Because of that I've been debating reading book 2, but maybe I'll give it a try. Have a great week, Sam!
ReplyDeleteHow do you turn down a $1.99 ebook that you heard good things about? The alternate history-fantasy thing is working for me, and you know, romance. This one probably matches the pace of the last book, so if you weren't feeling it then, you may not feel it now.
DeleteYay for a short week and free lunches! You picked up some great books. Hope you enjoy them and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love short weeks and free lunches. =)
DeleteI'm no longer a SJM fan, buttt, that is one cool photo for sure. That stuffed dragon is so cute. And aww! That tiny Wonder Woman is fierce and so beautiful! My heart! <3 Lucky you with those free lunches! I'm always jumping on board free lunches too. My school does a surprisingly good job with giving us free meals throughout the year! Fingers crossed the new academic year will be filled with them too.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh! I'm nervous and excited for you to read North to You. I hope you adore it! :)
Happy reading and have a good week ahead!
I am always on board for FREE. I saw this article about how workers are happier when they get free food. They do it a lot at my job, and we have three full jeans-weeks coming up, so that awesome as well. I feel as though I will love North to You. I have seen tons of great reviews, and I am just a lover of love.
DeleteOh I loved Salvaged by Jay Crownover! That book was so good!!!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of the SJM books but that is a cool photo! And that little girl wonder woman is amazing!!!
Have a great week!
I was grateful for that series, because Jay kept me in the Marked Men world a little longer (I loved it there). The mini Justice League was adorable, but their stories moved me the most.
DeleteLovely books! I have been eyeing Sarah Dessen's books for a while, and really must read one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Dessen is one of my faves, and her new book was really moving. I would say out of her 13 books, one was less than spectacular for me (3 stars), but the rest were great. She knows how to find that balance with the humor, drama, and angst that is so important for me.
DeleteThere some many things I love in this post! That picture from the Maas event is great! It looks so much fun and I'd love to meet her now that I finished ACOTAR. I saw the Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League photos this morning. It's amazing what the photographer did for those children. They really are superheroes. I loved North to You so I hope you enjoy it too. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteKiersten and I went to an event for EoS, and it was in B&N. Maas signed each book, took photos, and talked to us. Apparently things have changed. This event was in a middle school. The books had to be pre-ordered and were signed before the event. The only people who got to meet SJM were those selected by raffle at the event. Those little super heroes were the best thing I saw this week. My heart just exploded. Yay! Another endorsement for North to You. I am determined to get it on my weekly TBR soon.
DeleteAwesome haul and I just loved the super heroes for those children. Every one melted my heart. Hope your week is a good one!
ReplyDeleteWasn't it beautiful! These are happy tears.
DeleteThat Tower of Dawn picture is THE BEST!!!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
The ToD picture is just so Kiersten and Noor. I love that their personalities shine through, and it is quite fun.
DeleteOutlander!! I was up this morning watching it at 7am. I may have watched it a second time just to make sure I didn't miss anything :) So many great books this week. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI hope to watch it tonight. I can't wait. Those two have such an epic love story!
DeleteWow! That's a lot of awesome books you got and I really need to check out that John Green book!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
I love Green and will read whatever he writes
DeleteShort week and free lunches are always key!!! I can't wait to read Midnight Jewel I am hoping to get to it soon! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteToday, we had breakfast and lunch. If you liked The Glittering Court, you will enjoy Midnight Jewel. I really liked it.
