It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus.

This post is for sharing what I read last week, what I am currently reading, and what I plan to read.

What I Read Last Week

I had a feeling Avenged would be my favorite read of the week, because I loved the first book so much. A book I liked a lot more than I thought I would, was The One Memory of Flora Banks. Reviews were mixed, and understandably so. The style takes some getting used to, but once I adjusted to being in Flora's head, I saw this beautiful story unfolding. Another standout, was Aftermath. I struggle sometimes with sad books, but I found this one had a good balance of the sad and hope.

What I Am Currently Reading

I am currently listening to Ever After. I have never read anything from Deveraux before, but I am really enjoying my stay in Nantucket. My current read is The Invisible Library, which I have had on hold on Overdrive since November. I waited a long time, I hope it's the adventure I was looking for.

What I Plan to Read

This week, I am going to work on more of my ARCS. I heard great things about Duels and Deception, and I am super excited for Ramona Blue, as I have LOVED Murphy's other books. I feel as though I am in for a treat. I requested Deacon Locke because it sounded like it could be a lot of fun, and I liked the book I had read by this author. Finally, I am reading Dark Breaks the Dawn. This was one of my WoWs, so when I got approved for this DRC, I was over the moon. Lots of expectations this week, I hope these books deliver.

I don't get much in the way of #bookmail, so I am happy to share that, I won another GoodReads giveaway! I received Spellbook of the Lost and Found by Moira Fowley-Doyle on Friday, and I am really excited for two reasons: 1. This is another book I have a DRC for, so I can do a giveaway like I did with Pirate King, and 2. I loved Fowley-Doyle's first book, and am hoping I strike gold twice with her.

  1. Great list, Sam. Of course Avenged was awesome, but I hadn't heard of Aftermath. I do like a good sad story so I'll have to put it on my list. I admire your ability to be so organised you know what you'll be reading this week. I'm currently reading If Birds a Fly Back by Carlie Sorosiak.

    1. This weekly reading list a new thing for me. I like doing this post, because it sort of makes me commit to a TBR. If Birds Fly Back is on my future TBR. I can't wait to hear what you think.

  2. I've been curious about Avenged, thinking of trying one of Amy Tintera's books, and I liked The Invisible Library although I haven't read the sequels yet. Duels and Deceptions looks fun too!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, and nice to discover yours. :)

  3. I am really glad to hear that you ended up enjoying The One Memory of Flora Banks. I have that book to read sometime this month and I have been a bit nervous about it because of the mixed reviews. Happy reading!

    1. It took me some time to get into Flora, because of the repetition, but when you stop and think about it, it's necessary if you really want to be in the head of someone with a short term memory issue. Once I got used to it, I was better able to enjoy Flora's journey.

    1. Your dedication is admirable. Thank goodness for technology! I finished Ever After, Deacon Locke, and Invisible Library. I am starting Duels tonight, and Ramona Blue will be right after that (Thurs or Fri?). I am hoping Murphy wins my heart once again. Enjoy your trip!
